If the shoe doesn’t fit . . . don’t wear it!

Today was one of those crazy days!  I was trying to finish up a Lightroom catalog of a styled shoot that I did several weeks ago and just hadn’t gotten around to doing anything yet with the pictures.   They are actually floral pictures that I need to get on this website, but I just haven’t had time to with our wedding season back for its fall craziness.  So, the styled shoot was put on the back burner until this morning. I had a little bit of time to quickly cull through the images and so that is what I did.  I had Wyatt running around between the dining room and the studio playing with cars, magic markets, post its… yes… I did give him a stack of post its at one point to keep him entertained. I am not ashamed.

Then…

he saw the running stroller and all hell broke loose.

Not really, but in his mind, I am sure the world was pretty much ending. He wanted to go on a stroller ride right then!  I still had a couple things to finish, so I gave him the stack of post-its for him to destroy and I quickly finished up the catalog I was working on.    I will say that I try to stay off my computer and phone as much as possible when he is around because I don’t want all of his memories of mommy being on the computer or phone. That isn’t fun.   Secretly, in the back of my mind, I partly wish that the internet and cell phones didn’t exist.  I love technology, but they suck you in!  I long for the day when we don’t need to be plugged in 24/7.

With that being said – We did take a stroller ride.  I went to one of my favorite places ever to stroller – Dawes Arboretum.  It is such a gorgeous park and there are so many trails! You can either stay on the road trails or go off the beaten path and do some of the hiking trails.  We stayed on the road and I thought to myself let’s just go the long way because I knew how much he wanted to go on the stroller ride.  Suddenly, my heels started to hurt.  I don’t mean like every so often my heel hurt… no… more like every step was a burning pain that I could just tell I was getting a blister on both heels.  Not cool. The tennis shoes I was wearing are ones from when I was pregnant.  I had bought them to go to Disney World when I was 14 weeks pregnant and knew I needed shoes that would fit my ever so swollen feet.  I guess since I am no longer pregnant I am back down to a 9.5 shoe and not a 10.   The funny thing is that I have walked in these shoes a million times, ran many miles in them and they never did this! Ah, I don’t know what it was about today, but it was painful! I ended up taking my shoes off and walking the rest of the way in my socks.  I felt so silly and figured if anyone saw us they would think I had lost my mind!  Luckily, no one was at the park haha! Score!  So, I took myself, my shoes, my now dirty socks and a sleepy boy on the remaining part of our walk. I did only manage to step on 3 rocks which I feel like that in itself is an accomplishment!
